We had another great day today! We started out with some quiet time and worship to get our hearts prepared for ministry. Our ministries included community projects through an organization that renovates neighborhoods, painting at the church we are staying at, helping out at A.C.T.S. (shelter/food kitchen), and VBS with an organization that serves low-income kids. Some of the groups also spent some time seeking the Lord in prayer in an activity called ATL (Ask The Lord). We went to a park and asked the Lord to lead us to people that we could pray for and share our faith with. It was a stretching and fruitful opportunity! Here’s what some students wrote about their day:
“Today team 3 went out to a park and did some ministry. Funny thing is that we did ATL’s (Ask The Lord) and later on I saw the same people God gave me when I asked Him to give me people to talk to. I walked over there with Madi and Michael. We started talking and the guy ended up being an ex-cocaine addict and a current alcoholic. Throughout 3 generations of his family’s existence, their men have lived most of their lives without their dads around. I found that so sad. He started talking bad about himself and I said ‘I just met you but I can already tell that you’re not a bad person.’ We had a long talk and during it he said something that really stuck out to me… ‘There are 5 things to life: caring, sharing, loving, giving, and forgiving.’ At the end I prayed for them and we left. It was an amazing experience.”

“We went to VBS and taught little kids about Jesus. One little girl told Brittany that Jesus was her forever friend. She also told us that her dad is in jail until her and her 5-month-old brother grow up. We saw how tough some of their lives are, but they always had smiles on their faces. It was so cool just to love on them and get to see their smiling faces. We can’t wait to go back tomorrow! Please keep all of these little kids in your prayers.”
